You can view journals at any time.

View all journals

Display a list of all the journals entries added. Useful for reviewers.

Viewing journals lets you see:

  • Journal Date and Journal Note in the header row.
  • The Sequence, Account Name, Quantity, DR Amount/CR Amount, GST information and Description in the detail rows.
  • The journal line description, added to the journal note field for AccountRight Live, Practice Ledger and Cashbook.
  • The Show drop-down list, to filter the list of journals which are displayed in the table. Only relevant if you want to view and filter journals once they have been posted to the client ledger.
To view all journals
View journals for a selected account

Display the journals added for only a selected account. Useful if you need to investigate an account balance and see what was applied to that account.

Viewing journals for a selected account lets you see only journals for the selected account in the table:

    • The Journal Date and Journal Note in the header row.
    • The Sequence, Account Name, Amount and Description in the detail row.
      Below the detail row:
      • The calculated GST amount and the account that the amount will be posted to.
      • The transaction amount minus the GST, and the account that the amount will be posted to.
      • The transaction amount and the account that the amount will be posted to.
To view journals for a selected account
  1. Go to the client’s Client Accounting > Trial Balance (Workpapers) tab and click a period in the Select Period section.
  2. On the Tasks bar, click Open Period. The table for the period appears.
  3. Select the checkbox for the selected account in the table.
  4. On the Tasks bar, click Journals > View for account. The Journals for Account... window appears.
  5. To close the window, click Cancel.
