Error 10053 can be caused by McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8 when you send email from Ace Payroll.

By default, McAfee VirusScan 8 blocks all outgoing messages sent by any program that it does not recognise. This is intended to stop email worms from sending out messages, but it also stops Ace Payroll from sending messages.

To solve this problem you need to tell McAfee that Ace Payroll is a trusted program for sending emails.

 

To set Ace Payroll as a trusted program in McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8
  1. Right click the McAfee logo in the task tray (in the bottom right hand side of your screen) and click VirusScan Console.

  2. Double click Access Protection to open it.



  3. Click the Port Blocking tab, select Prevent mass mailing worms from sending email, then click Edit.



  4. In the Excluded Processes box, type in pay.exe
    Make sure it is separated from the other items by a comma.



  5. Click OK.

    Ace Payroll is now trusted by McAfee VirusScan.
