Trend Micro may wrongly identify the Ace Payroll software as a threat and quarantine it. This can prevent you upgrading or installing Ace Payroll.

To fix this problem all you need to do is set Ace Payroll as a trusted program by adding it to the exceptions list in Trend Micro.

 

To add Ace Payroll as a trusted exception in Trend Micro
  1. Open Trend Micro and click the settings icon.

  2. Click Exception Lists.



  3. Click Programs/folders then click Add. 



  4. Click Browse.



  5. In the File Name field, type c:\winpay and click Open, then click OK.



  6. Click Apply, then click OK.

    Ace Payroll is now recognized as a safe program and you can install it or upgrade it.

 

To install or upgrade from a CD
  1. Insert your Ace Payroll CD. The installer starts automatically.

  2. Click Next > I Agree With These Terms > New Computer


To install or upgrade Ace Payroll using a download

You will need to temporarily disable Trend Micro to allow the installation.

  1. Click the Trend Micro icon on the task bar. This may be hidden in an expanding tab.



  2. Untick Protection Against Viruses & Spyware. A window opens to tell you that your protection has been disabled. Trend Micro re-enables your protection automatically after 30 minutes, so there is no need to do anything else.

  3. Install Ace Payroll as normal.
