Accessing account groups

Statutory Reporter comes with a set of default account group allocations. These default account group allocations can be edited and individual accounts and account ranges can be assigned at a practice or client level.

When you configure account groups at a practice level, account group allocations affect all clients of a selected industry type. Account group allocations at a practice level are marked with

in the Account Group Details tree.

You must access the Account Groups option from the Practice Report Settings to allocate accounts at a practice level.

When account groups are configured at a client level, account group allocations affect only the selected client. Account group allocations at a client level are marked with 

in the Account Group Details tree.

You must access the Account Groups option from the client’s Client Accounting > Reports tab to allocate accounts at a client level.

To access the practice account group / tax account group configuration
  1. Select Maintenance > Maintenance Map (AO) > Client Accounting > Practice Report Settings. The Practice Report Settings page opens.

  2. Click Account Groups on the TASKS bar. The Statutory Reporter - Account Groups or (NZ) Statutory Reporter - Tax Account Groups window opens.

  3. Select the appropriate Product from the drop-down.

    The selected Product must be identical to the configured financial data source. If it is not an error message is displayed.

    The available Product options are:

    • AccountRight 2013.0 or later

    • AccountRight 19 or earlier

    • Essentials.

  4. Select the Industry Type from the drop-down. At a practice level, account groups are configured for each Industry Type. The configuration of account groups will affect all clients of the selected industry type.

     If you have selected Essentials as the Product type, you can then further select: 

    • All - Essentials Accounting

    • All - Essentials Cashbook.

    If you have selected Essentials as the Product type, you can also configure the financial data source from the Statutory Reporter - Account Groups window by pressing the Configure button.

  5. Find and select a Sample Client.
  6. Click the ellipse button located at the end of the Sample Client field to search for a sample client. The Find Clients window opens.

    If you have selected an AccountRight product there is no distinction in the Find Clients window between an AccountRight 2013.0 or later client and an AccountRight 19 or earlier client. Both are displayed as AccountRight in the Product column.
    You should be aware of which product your clients are using.

  7. Search for the client.

  8. Click OK.

    The Find Clients window closes and the Sample Client field updates with the selection made.
    The selected client’s chart of accounts will be used as an example in the Chart of Accounts table...

To access the client account group configuration
  1. Open the client’s Client Accounting > Reports tab.

  2. Click Account Groups on the TASKS bar. The Statutory Reporter - Account Groups window opens.
