Importing a Bank Statement into MYOB Ledger

You can import bank statements into an MYOB Ledger via the Cashbook website.

Before you can import a bank statement, you'll need to download the from your internet banking website. Save the bank statement as a .QIF file, and if you have a choice of date formats, choose dd/mm/yy.

For instructions on how to download bank statements from your bank, refer to the help in your online banking website. You can also search Google for your bank's instructions, e.g. search for "download bank statement ANZ" or "download QIF file westpac", etc.

Follow the instructions below to first nominate a bank account, then import transactions into the nominated account.

1. Nominate a bank account
  1. From within AE/AO, navigate to your client's Client Accounting > Trial Balance (or Workpapers) tab.

  2. On the Tasks bar, click Launch AE/AO Ledger. The cashbook.myob.com.au or cashbook.myob.co.nz website opens in a new web browser.

  3. Click Settings and from the drop-down menu, choose Account List.
  4. Click on the bank account you wish to import the bank statement to and select the Bank account checkbox.

    You can now import bank statements to this account.
2. Import bank transactions

To import bank transactions

  1. From within AE/AO, navigate to your client's Client Accounting > Trial Balance (or Workpapers) tab.

  2. On the Tasks bar, click Launch AE/AO Ledger. The cashbook.myob.com.au or cashbook.myob.co.nz website opens in a new web browser.

  3. Click Banking and from the drop-down menu, choose Import bank statement.
  4. Select the bank or credit-card account to import transactions to.

    Don't have any accounts to choose from? Make sure you've specified a bank account. See the previous task for details.

  5. Click Import button. A file window appears.
  6. Select the .QIF file you want to upload, and click Open. The import process begins

If the import is successful, the View and match transactions page appears, displaying the status of the import and the imported transactions. Allocate these transactions to the appropriate account.

All previously imported bank statements are listed in the Import Bank Statement page.

Un-importing a bank or credit card statement

You may need to "undo" the import for a number of reasons, for example – where you've imported the wrong statement or imported the same statement multiple times.

When you undo the import, all transactions imported in that batch will be removed.

You can undo a bank or credit card statement import from the cashbook (AE/AO ledger) website as follows:

To delete imported bank or credit card statements

  1. From your client's Client Accounting > Trial Balance (Workpapers) tab, click Launch AE/AO Ledger.

  2. In the cashbook website, click Banking and from the drop-down menu, choose Import bank statement.

  3. Click on the drop-down arrow next to the imported statement you wish to delete.

  4. Click Undo.


    The statements disappears from the list of imported bank statements and all transactions imported are removed from the ledger.
