Producing the Taxable payments annual report

There's a growing list of Australian businesses that need to produce the Taxable payments annual report (TPAR) at the end of each financial year and submit it to the ATO. To check if your business needs to report, visit the ATO website.

The TPAR declares all of the payments you've made to applicable suppliers throughout the financial year. MYOB helps you create this report and generate a file which you can lodge with the ATO.

Let's take you through how to produce the report and create the electronic file, ready to lodge to the ATO.

1. Display the taxable payments report

The Taxable payments annual report displays all reportable transactions over the selected financial year, organised by supplier, along with the total amount of reportable transactions for each supplier.

Here's what you can do:

  • To see a summary of each supplier's transactions, click the dropdown arrow for that supplier.

  • To remove a transaction from the report, open the transaction via the Find transactions page, deselect the option Report to ATO via TPAR and click Save.

  • To remove a supplier from the report, open the supplier's record (Contacts menu > All contacts), deselect the option Report payments to ATO via TPAR, then click Save.

  • To include additional payments on the report, open the transaction via the Find transactions page, select the option Report to ATO via TPAR option, then click Save.

  • To add all payments made to a supplier (not already listed on the report), open the supplier's record (Contacts menu > All contacts), select the option Report payments to ATO via TPAR, then click Save.

  • To keep a copy of the report for your records, click Export and choose to export the report as a PDF file.

When you’re satisfied that the report includes all of the required transactions, you're ready to create an electronic TPAR file to be lodged with the ATO. See the next task for details.
