Report Designer page

Accountants Enterprise only

The Report Designer page includes the work area and the tools you need to build a new report layout.

A layout is composed of three structural areas:

    1. Headers — including the report header, the page header and group headers. It store titles, column headings and so on.

    2. Detail area — is the body of the report where all the data retrieved into a report is displayed. If you add fields to a report in the Change Report page, the layout is updated. You can adjust the properties you want in the Report Designer page.

    3. Footers — including group footers, page footers and a report footer. The footers are used to display sub totals and totals. They can be placed after each data group, after each page and at the end of the report.

Headers and footers operate in pairs. A group header is logically matched with a group footer for example and when you insert an additional header it inserts a matching footer.

The headers, footers and detail areas can contain various item types including text, data fields and/or graphics.

Each section in the layout is represented with a title bar and a work area just beneath it that controls what is displayed in that area of the report. There are properties associated with the title bar and with any objects that you insert into the layout.
