On the Process supplier returns page, you can credit or reimburse yourself for goods returned to or services not received from your suppliers. The return should first be created using the procedure outlined in To create a supplier return.

To apply a return to an unpaid bill 

  1. First, complete the procedure outlined in To create a supplier return.
  2. If you’re not already on the Process supplier returns page, go to the Purchases menu and choose Process supplier returns.
    The Process supplier returns page appears, displaying a list of all supplier returns awaiting debiting or refunding.
  3. Select the return to be applied to an unpaid bill.
  4. Click Apply to a bill.
    The Apply to a bill page appears, displaying details of the return, as well as a list of any unpaid bills you’ve entered (these represent unpaid bills from the supplier). The value of the return to be applied appears in the Total debit to apply field.
  5. Copy the value in the Total credit to apply field into the Payment amount field for the unpaid bill you want to apply it to.
  6. Click Save to apply the return amount to the unpaid bill.
  7. Repeat from step 1 for any other returns to be applied to unpaid bills.

titleTo mark the return as a refund from a supplier

To mark the return as a refund from a supplier 

  1. First, complete the procedure outlined in To create a supplier return.
  2. If you’re not already on the Process supplier returns page, go to the Purchases menu and choose Process supplier returns.
    The Process supplier returns page appears, displaying a list of all supplier returns awaiting debiting or refunding.
  3. Select the return to be refunded from the list.
  4. Click Refund from supplier.
    The Refund from supplier page appears, displaying details of the return.
  5. Check that the DateReference number and Refund amount fields are correct.
  6. Select the To account to which you want the refund credited.

     You can only allocate a refund to a cash or cheque account. For more information about accounts, see Accounts List.

  7. Add to the Notes field if required.
  8. Click Save to credit the refund amount to the selected account.
  9. Repeat from step 1 for any other returns to be refunded.
  10. Prepare the cash or cheque refund for your business.
