We've had reports of two issues when printing from AccountEdge after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan). These issues and their solutions are provided below.

titlePrinting block characters instead of text

This issue results in AccountEdge printing block characters instead of text. This appears to be an issue with the Palatino font, as El Capitan has created a second copy of this font for some people.

Solution

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Choose Go > Applications from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  3. Choose Font Book.
  4. Scroll down through the fonts until you get to Palatino.
  5. Click the drop down arrow next to it.
  6. Notice that you will have multiple copies of the font - click the one with the yellow exclamation mark.
  7. Click Resolve Automatically.
  8. Repeat steps 5 - 7 for each Palatino font with a yellow exclamation mark.

titleAccountEdge crashing when printing

If your printer is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.11, AccountEdge can crash when printing. Specifically, we’ve had a few reports about Brother printers that are not yet compatible with Mac OS X 10.11 sporadically causing AccountEdge to crash while printing. You can view a list of Brother printers that require new drivers and when they are expected to be available here.

To fix this issue, check your printer manufacturer's website to see if an updated printer driver is available.
