Single Touch Payroll Phase 2
The ATO has expanded Single Touch Payroll (STP) to include additional information in your payroll reporting through STP Phase 2. The deadline to begin reporting on STP Phase 2 was 1 January 2023. Your MYOB Essentials will be upgraded to the new platform where you’ll be able to transition to STP Phase 2.
We’ve been working with the ATO and have been granted an extension to the 1 January deadline, so you'll have time to move to the new platform and begin STP Phase 2 reporting. You now have until 31 March 2023 to report your first STP Phase 2 pay run.
By setting up STP in MYOB Essentials, you'll be set up on STP Phase 1 (see the note above about Phase 2).
Once you're set up, you'll send your employees' salary, tax and super info to the ATO after each pay. This means no more payment summaries at the end of the financial year. Instead, your employees can access their payroll information through the ATO's online service, MyGov.

Do I need to report via STP?
If you pay employees, you'll most likely need to report to the ATO via STP. But if you're not sure, check with the ATO.
