Introducing MYOB Essentials

Depending on the features of AccountEdge you’re currently using, MYOB Essentials might be a good fit for your business.

MYOB Essentials works on an internet browser, so you can use it on any computer that's connected to the internet. However, MYOB Essentials doesn’t have all the features of AccountEdge, so might not be suitable if you currently use any of the following:

Cost centres
Inventory (including serial number tracking and locations)
Multi-currency
Time billing
Jobs/departments
Recurring transactions
Purchase orders
Sales orders
Substantial reporting requirements

Apple's new operating system called Big Sur does not support 32-bit applications. MYOB AccountEdge is a 32-bit application which means it will not work on the new Big Sur operating system, and there won't be an AccountEdge update to make it compatible.

haven't updated your Mac to Big Sur (or Catalina)

Continue using AccountEdge - nothing changes. We'll continue providing AccountEdge support for the foreseeable future.

have updated your Mac to Big Sur (or Catalina)

Revert to the previous Mac operating system. This isn't a simple task and will require you to first backup all the data on your Mac. Completing this task will likely require help from an IT person, who will also be able to advise on any potential security implications. Check this Apple support article for more details. Once you have reinstalled the previous operating system, you'll be able to reinstall and continue using AccountEdge. Need to download AccountEdge?

Important Information on AccountEdge

Last year we announced that we would not be making AccountEdge compatible with Apple's newer operating systems, including Catalina and Big Sur. Due to ongoing compatibility and compliance obligations, MYOB has made the difficult decision to no longer support AccountEdge from 1 April 2022.

However, if you're using an older operating system like Mojave (10.14) or High Sierra (10.13), you'll still be able to access your file and be able to use AccountEdge after 1 April 2022.

To keep you compliant, we have a number of options for you and can even help move your data across to those.
