  • To import contacts using a sample import file

    For the

easiest import, work with a sample file. This also ensures the required information is entered in a format that's accepted by MYOB. This is handy if you've exported your contacts from another program or have the details in a spreadsheet.

We've provided a sample file which has every heading needed for an import - all you need to do is download the file, open it in Excel, add your contact information, then import it into MYOB.

    Let's step you through it.

You can import contacts (customers or suppliers) into MYOB instead of entering their details one at a time. This is handy if you have a list of contacts you've exported from another program or contained in a spreadsheet.

To ensure your import file is in the right format with all required information, we recommend using the sample import file we've provided below.

We'll step you through how to import a prepared file, as well as how to import using a sample import file.

      • the first cell contains parentheses (brackets) - these need to remain, as they indicate that the import file is from MYOB.

      • the second row (beneath the row with the brackets) is labeled so you can work out what type of information is displayed in each column.

      • leave the brackets on the first row, and the headings on the second row.
    5. When you're done, save the template as a text (.TXT) file. If you like, you can give the file a meaningful name, such as "Customer Import" or similar.
