Set up your client PCsA client is a computer that doesn’t share its company files with others on the network. It just accesses AccountRight files stored on a server, online or locally. 1. Install AccountRight PC Edition on each clientYou need to install AccountRight on each client that will access the AccountRight server. There’s an installer designed for clients, and it’s known as the PC installer. It’s a simple installer that takes seconds to install, and is compatible with Windows 7 and later. If more than one Windows user logs into a client computer with their own details, each user will need to install AccountRight separately. Also make sure the AccountRight version, such as 2019.4, on the server matches the version on the client PCs. UI Text Box |

| If you've downloaded and installed the Server Edition and PC edition at the same time, they will be the same version, but an easy way to check is to look at the version number displayed under the desktop shortcut.

Click Download to install the latest version (an AccountRight subscription is required). Once you've saved the installer to your computer, double-click it to install the new AccountRight version.
2. Open the file stored on the serverOnce you’ve installed AccountRight on each client, you need to open the file stored on the network computer. You do this by adding a network library. - Start AccountRight on a client PC and click Open in the Welcome window.
- Click Network Libraries, and then Add a network library.
- Enter the AccountRight server’s name or IP address, and give the library a nickname (this is handy if you have several servers). If you don’t know the server’s name, go to the Windows control panel on the server and select the System option.
Once the network library is setup, you can see and access all company files that are on the server. Learn more about AccountRight libraries. 3. Copy spreadsheets, letters and BAS setup to each client PCWhile company files shared on a network need to be stored on the server, there are other types of files used by AccountRight that will be accessed locally. These are: File type | Location |
---|
Excel templates for reports | C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\MYOB\AccountRight\201x.x\Reports\Spreadsheet | Word letters for mail merging | C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\MYOB\AccountRight\201x.x\Letters | (Australia only) BAS setup file for GST reporting | C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\MYOB\AccountRight\BASLink\Setup |
If you customise any of these files, and want all users to have the same templates and BAS setup file, you’ll need to copy the customised files to each client and save them in the locations shown above for each Windows user. If AccountRight is also used on the server, the customised files need to be saved to the server as well. Note that on the server, the default location for these templates is C:\Users\Public\, not C:\Users\<user name>\. |
