This type of installation should only be completed by an IT professional or someone with a thorough knowledge of your installation requirements.

Use the AccountRight MSI installer if:

  • installing AccountRight on a computer where roaming profiles or terminal services are used, or
  • deploying AccountRight using a group policy.

The MSI installer can be downloaded from www.myob.com/downloads

How this affects future AccountRight updates

If AccountRight is installed via an MSI installation file:

  • All future AccountRight updates will need to be installed using an MSI installation file as described below.
  • AccountRight will not display alerts for future updates.

Windows compatibility

The AccountRight MSI installer can be run on:

  • Windows 8.1 (or later)
  • Windows Server 2012 (or later)

Using Windows Server 2012?

If the Remote Desktop Session Host is enabled, by default Windows Installer RDS Compatibility is enabled. However, this will cause the MSI installation to fail. You'll need to disable Windows
Installer RDS Compatibility.

To disable Windows Installer RDS Compatibility
  1. Simultaneously press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard. The Run window appears.
  2. Type gpedit.msc and click OK. The Local Group Policy Editor window appears.
  3. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Application Compatibility.
  4. In the right pane, right‐click Turn off Windows Installer RDS Compatibility and choose Edit.
  5. Select Enabled. This will disable Windows Installer RDS Compatibility.
  6. Click OK.

Installing AccountRight using the MSI installer

To install AccountRight using the MSI installer
  1. Open an elevated command prompt.
  2. Change the directory to the location where the MSI installer file is located.
  3. Install AccountRight using the following command line (replace “name.msi” with the specific filename of the MSI installer): msiexec /i "name.msi" ALLUSERS=1

Can't see your company files in My Library?

This usually means your AccountRight library is not in a shared location, making your company files inaccessible to some users. Make sure your AccountRight library is in a shared location, such as C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\MYOB\My AccountRight files.

You can then change the location of your AccountRight library to ensure AccountRight looks in this location when opening your local company files.

To uninstall using a command line
  1. Open an elevated command prompt.
  2. Uninstall AccountRight using the following command line (replace “name.msi” with the specific filename of the MSI installer): msiexec /x “name.msi” ALLUSERS=1
