Here's what we'll cover in this support note:

This support note explains how to perform these tasks with or without the software CD.

Uninstalling is not the same as deleting!

When software is installed on your computer, Windows automatically stores its configuration information in a database called the registry. The Windows registry contains profiles for each user of the computer and information about system hardware, installed programs, and property settings. Windows continually references this information during its operation.

If you need to completely uninstall your software, it's very important you run the uninstall process using your MYOB software CD or using the Windows Control Panel.

Do not place the program folder into the Recycle Bin to delete the program as this does not remove the information from the Windows registry. As this information will remain, it will appear to Windows that the software is still installed on your computer.

When you run the uninstall process using the CD or the Windows Control Panel, the uninstaller will remove the references to the software from the Windows registry.

What about my customised forms, reports, letters, etc.?

Even though the data in your program folder, which includes your customised forms, letters and reports, should not be affected by uninstalling and reinstalling your software, it's a good idea to complete a full backup of your company file before uninstalling (as explained below).

Uninstalling (removing) your software

Note: Before uninstalling, it is recommended you take a full backup of your company file. See our support notes Backup and restore your company file - Windowsand Backup and restore company files in AccountRight 2011 and laterfor more information.
