This support note describes how to fix a Code 10 error when installing the Posiflex PP-7000 USB Printer Driver.

1. Download the attached file

The file attached to the bottom of this support note will enable the successful installation of the Posiflex PP-7000 USB printer driver onto Windows.

  1. Right-click in an empty area of your Windows Desktop and choose New then choose Folder.
  2. Name the new folder Code 10 Fix.
  3. Right-click the attachment at the bottom of this support note (Error Code 10 Fix.zip) and choose to save the file in the Code 10 Fix folder created above.
  4. Double-click the downloaded Error Code 10 Fix.zip file.
  5. Using your zip utility software, for example Winzip, extract the contents of the Error Code 10 Fix.zip file to the Code 10 Fix folder.
2. Uninstall the existing USB driver
  1. Unplug the USB cable from the printer.
  2. Browse to the Code 10 Fix folder and double-click the R2176 folder to view its contents.
  3. Double-click the FTDIUNIN.exe file.
  4. Click Continue at the following prompt:

The USB driver is now uninstalled.

3. Re-install the USB driver

The USB driver installation is outlined in our support note Setting up the Posiflex PP-7000 USB docket printer. The latest printer drivers are available for download from the Posiflex website.

The USB driver installation is also outlined in the Posiflex PP-7000 user setup guide, which is supplied with the printer.

During installation, at the point where it asks you to browse to the location of the USB driver, browse to the folder which contains the extracted error code 10 fix files, for example Code 10 fix\R2176.

The USB Driver installation should complete successfully. When finished, reboot your computer and configure your printer settings in RetailManager/RetailBasics.

If you receive the Error code 10 again during the installation, run the FTClean as described in the next task.

4. Run FTClean

Using Windows 7 or later?

You may receive a message advising you can only run the FTClean utility when logged in as an Administrator. If this is the case, log out and log back in as an Administrator and run the FTClean utility again.

 

  1. Unplug the USB cable from the printer.
  2. Browse to the Code 10 fix\FTClean folder.
  3. Double-click the FTClean.exe file. The FTDI Clean Utility v1.0 appears.
  4. Enter the details in the fields as shown below. These fields are case-sensitive:
    • In the field VID [Hex], select Other.
    • In the field next to VID [Hex], type 0D3A [zero D three A].
    • In the field PID [Hex], type 0300 [zero, three, zero, zero].
  5. Click Clean System.
  6. Click OK at the following prompt:
  7. Click Yes at the following prompt:
  8. Click No at the following prompt:

    The utility will perform its functions and return to the main screen when done. Once the process is complete, the status message will read System clean completed as shown below.
  9. Click Exit to close the FTClean utility.
  10. Install the Posiflex USB Driver once again as outlined in Task 3 above.
