To fix this error, complete the following:

  1. Copy the Setup and Data folders from the BASlink folder (AccountRight v19 and earlier only)
  2. Delete the BASlink folder from your software folder
  3. Perform a 'repair' install of your software
  4. Copy the Setup and Data folders back to the BASlink folder (AccountRight v19 and earlier only)

If you're using the new AccountRight, proceed to the next task.

The Setup and Data folders contain your BASlink template and backup files. By copying these (then putting them back later in the process), you won't need to setup your entire BAS again after fixing this issue.

To copy the Setup folder:

  1. Close your MYOB software.
  2. Simultaneously press the Windows Image and E keys on your keyboard (the Windows Image key is between the Ctrl and Alt keys). The My Computer or Windows Explorer window appears.
  3. Find your BASlink folder. Use the table below for guidance.
If you're using this software version: Your BASlink folder will be here:
(where XX refers to your software version, such as 19)
    Accounting/AccountRight Standard v19 C:\StandardXX
    Accounting Plus/AccountRight Plus v19 C:\PlusXX
    Premier/AccountRight Premier v19 C:\PremierXX
    Premier Enterprise/AccountRight Enterprise v19 C:\EnterpriseXX
  4. Double-click the BASlink folder. You will see a Setup and Data folder.
  5. Right-click the Setup folder and choose Copy.
  6. Right-click on the Desktop and choose Paste. The Setup folder will be copied to your Desktop.

Now do the same for the Data folder:

  1. Go back to the BASlink folder (see the table above for guidance).
  2. Double-click the BASlink folder to locate the Data folder.
  3. Right-click the Data folder and choose Copy.
  4. Right-click on the Desktop and choose Paste. The Data folder has now been copied to your Desktop.

(where XX refers to your software version, such as 19 or 2014.1)
    Accounting/AccountRight Standard v19 C:\StandardXX
    Accounting Plus/AccountRight Plus v19 C:\PlusXX
    Premier/AccountRight Premier v19 C:\PremierXX
    Premier Enterprise/AccountRight Enterprise v19 C:\EnterpriseXX
    AccountRight 2011 to 2013.5 64-bit Windows*: C:\Program Files (x86)\MYOB\AccountRight\XX\AU
    32-bit Windows*: C:\Program Files\MYOB\AccountRight\XX\AU
AccountRight 2014.1 and later (PC Edition) Note: <user.name> refers to the name of the user currently logged into Windows, such as John.Smith
    C:\Users\
    <user.name>\AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\MYOB AccountRight XX
    AccountRight 2014.1 (Server Edition) 64-bit Windows*: C:\Program Files (x86)\MYOB\AccountRight\XX\AU
    32-bit Windows*: C:\Program Files\MYOB\AccountRight\XX\AU
AccountRight 2014.2 and later (Server Edition) 64-bit Windows*: C:\Program Files (x86)\MYOB\AccountRight\XX\SE
    32-bit Windows*: C:\Program Files\MYOB\AccountRight\XX\SE
  4. Right-click the BASlink folder and choose Delete.
  5. Click Yes to the deletion confirmation message.

Performing a "repair" installation of your MYOB software will ensure all the program components you specified during the original installation are in place and working as intended - including the required BASlink components. If the "repair" option isn't available for your software version, you can uninstall and reinstall your software. For help doing this, see our support note Uninstalling and reinstalling your software.

If you downloaded your MYOB software:

  1. Close out of all programs on your computer. This includes disabling any anti-virus software.
  2. Access the list of programs installed on your computer:
Windows 8: Right-click in the screen's bottom-left corner and choose Programs and Features.
Windows 7/Vista: Click the Windows Start button and choose Control Panel then choose Programs and Features.
Windows XP: Click the Windows Start button and choose Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click the MYOB software version to be repaired then click Change. In some Windows versions this may appear as Change/Uninstall. The Setup window will be displayed.
"Change" option unavailable? Instead, you'll need to Uninstall the software, then re-install it using the downloaded installation file. If needed, you can download the installation file from my.MYOB as described in our support note Downloading updates from my.MYOB.
  4. Select the Repair option then click Next.

  5. Select Finish once the reinstallation is complete.
  6. Restart your computer.

If you have your MYOB software CD:

  1. Close out of all programs on your computer. This includes disabling any anti-virus software.
  2. Place the MYOB software CD into the disc drive. If the installation window does not automatically display:
    1. Simultaneously press the Windows Image and E keys on your keyboard (the Windows Image key is between the Ctrl and Alt keys). The My Computer (or Computer) window appears.
    2. Double-click your CD-ROM drive (usually the D: drive).
    3. Locate the file named autorun.exe and double-click it.
  3. Select Install. The system requirements window is displayed.
  4. Click Install Now. The InstallShield process will begin and will check the Windows Registry. Once it has searched and found that the software is already installed on your computer, the Setup window will be displayed.
  5. Select the Repair option then click Next.

  6. Select Finish once the reinstallation is complete.
  7. Restart your computer.

If you're using AccountRight v19 or earlier, continue to the next task. For the new AccountRight, the error should now be fixed.

This task is not required if you're using the new AccountRight.

You now need to copy the previously saved Setup and Data folders from your Desktop back into the BASlink folder.

To copy the Setup folder:

  1. Simultaneously press the Windows Image and E keys on your keyboard (the Windows Image key is between the Ctrl and Alt keys). The My Computer or Windows Explorer window appears.
  2. From the Desktop, right-click the Setup folder (which you pasted there earlier in this support note) and choose Cut.
  3. Find your BASlink folder. Use the table below for guidance.
If you're using this software version: Your BASlink folder will be here:
(where XX refers to your software version, such as 19)
    Accounting/AccountRight Standard v19 C:\StandardXX
    Accounting Plus/AccountRight Plus v19 C:\PlusXX
    Premier/AccountRight Premier v19 C:\PremierXX
    Premier Enterprise/AccountRight Enterprise v19 C:\EnterpriseXX
  4. Right-click the BASlink folder and choose Paste.
  5. When prompted to replace the existing files or folder, choose Yes (or choose Copy and Replace).

Now do the same for the Data folder:

  1. Right-click the Data folder on your Desktop and choose Cut.
  2. Go to the BASlink folder (see the table above for guidance).
  3. Right-click the BASlink folder and choose Paste.
  4. When prompted to replace the existing files or folder, choose Yes (or choose Copy and Replace).
