When you uninstall AcountRight, sometimes components of the software are left behind which can interfere with future AccountRight installations. For example, even if you have uninstalled AccountRight, it still might be included in your list of installed programs.

Running a registry cleaner will remove these remaining components, and this support note explains how to do it.

If your issue persists after running the registry cleaner, we've also provided a link to a Microsoft "Fit it" utility which might help.

Log in as administrator

To use the registry cleaners in this support note, log in to your computer as an administrator or a user with administrator priviledges.

Using the AccountRight registry cleaner

The AccountRight registry cleaner removes the AccountRight registry entries that tell windows that AccountRight is installed. It does NOT remove any other registry entries.

To use the registry cleaner

  1. Right-click the following link and choose Save Target As (or Save Link As): AccountRight Registry Cleaner.
  2. Save the file to your Desktop.
  3. Double-click the downloaded file to run the registry cleaner. A window will be displayed listing your installed MYOB products.
  4. Select your AccountRight product then click Clean Selected. The AccountRight regisrty entries will be cleaned.
  5. Restart your computer. You should now be able to reinstall AccountRight.

Registry cleaner not working?

Use the registry cleaner below for the AccountRight version you're trying to remove. There's separate registry cleaners for Australia and New Zealand and for AccountRight Standard, Plus, Premier and Enterprise.

Right-click the applicable link and save the file to your Desktop, then double-click the downloaded file to run the registry cleaner. Don't forget to restart your computer when done.

Using a registry cleaner for older software versions (Australia only)

These registry cleaners are only applicable for older Australian MYOB products. If you're using an older New Zealand MYOB product, try the Microsoft "Fit it" utility in the next section of this support note.

  1. From the table below, right-click the link for the MYOB product/version you've uninstalled and choose Save Target As (or Save Link As).
  2. Save the file to your Desktop.
  3. Double-click the downloaded file to run the registry cleaner.

  4. When the process has finished, restart your computer. You should now be able to reinstall your MYOB software.

Running the Microsoft "Fix it" utility

Some installation issues can be fixed by running the Microsoft "Fix it" utility. This tool, freely available from the Microsoft website, diagnoses problems that stop programs installing and uninstalling on your computer.

Because the Fix it utility is provided by Microsoft, MYOB can't provide assistance with its use, nor take responsibility for the outcome of its use.

The Fix it utility and instructions are available on the Microsoft support site: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall
