MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) Accounts allows you to import transactions from other sources such as accounting packages, CSV files or text files including those generated from MYOB applications.
To successfully import 3rd party transactions to AE Accounts, the file exported from the 3rd party product needs to be a .CSV file. The contents of this file must comply with the format outline in this article.
Sample SVF Template.csv is sample of the required format for importing into MYOB AE Accounts.
The file needs to match these specifications for you to be able to import the transactions into AE Accounts. These are normally in comma separated variable (CSV) file format which you can create using Microsoft Excel.
- Follow the menu path: Start > Programs > Microsoft Excel. The Microsoft Excel spreadsheet appears.
The format for the cells is described in the table below:

Account Name of the ledger as it appears in Accounts.

Ending date of transactions in the format ddmmyyy or dd/mm/yyyy or dd-mmm-yyyy.

A Record Type
The Record Type to default to TR to represent being a Transaction.
B
Transaction ID
Transaction ID of a maximum 7 numeric character.
C
Transaction Type
Transaction Type being either C for Cash or N for Non cash.

Date
Transaction date in the format ddmmyyy or dd/mm/yyyy or dd-mmm-yyyy.
E
Account Code
Account Code for the transaction in the format xxx or xxx-xx or xx.xx or x/xx or x/xx.xxx-xxx.
F
Ref Number
Ref Number of a maximum of 7 alphanumeric characters.
G
Total Value
Total Value of the transaction as a dollar amount where + debit and - credit.
H
GST Amount
GST Amount of the transaction as a dollar amount where + debit and - credit.
I
GST Indicator
GST Indicator being one of S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 or A8.

Capital Indicator
The Capital Indicator indicates whether the supply or acquisition was of a capital nature where C for Capital or O for Other.
K
Quantity
Where applicable, the Quantity is a value in the range 1 to 99. On import this value will adopt the sign of the Total Value field.

Narration
The Narration allows a maximum of 60 alphanumeric characters.
- From the File menu select Save As. The Save As screen appears.
See the table below and type the appropriate entry for each field.

Select the drive and path where the file is to be saved
File Name
Type in the name which the file is to be given.
Save as type
Select CSV (Comma Delimited).
- Click the Save button. The file is saved to the selected location. The Excel spreadsheet appears.
- From the File menu, select Exit. The Windows Desktop appears. The Excel file is now complete and is ready to be imported into an AE Accounts ledger.
- Open the AE Accounts ledger and follow the menu path: File > Import > Transaction Import. The Accounting Transaction Import window opens.
- Select New under Transaction Source and click Next. The wizard continues.
- Click Browse and in the Open window, navigate to the location of the saved file.
- Select the file you wish to import into AE Accounts and click Open.
Click Next.
If there are transactions contained in the file where mapping is required to the relevant account on the AE Accounts Chart, the mapping options appear. Edit the required map and ensure all account codes used in the file are mapped to a relevant account code.- Select the relevant transaction types and click Next. A summary of the import process appears.
- Click Finish. The Accounting Transaction Import wizard closes and the transactions are imported.
