Sharing an address links your contact to an existing address in the system. For example, you may want to link your client’s postal address to their home address or a client’s address to their spouse’s address. By sharing the addresses, if you have to update the address at a later date, you will only have to do it once and the changes will show across all clients, contacts or (AE) suppliers who share that address.

To link (share) to another existing address
  1. In PM, open the client and go to the Addresses tab.
  2. On the TASKS bar, click Add/maintain address. The Maintain Contact Addresses window appears.
  3. Click Share Address. The Select address to be linked window opens.

  4. Select the Address Type that you want to link an address to. If there is an address for that type, it will be displayed under Current address

  5. If you want to link to another address type defined for the current contact/client/(AE) supplier:

    1. Select the address you want to share from the list of addresses displayed.

    2. Click Select. The Maintain Contact Addresses window re-opens.
    3. Click Save. The newly shared/linked address is added.
  6. If you want to link to an address and you know which client/contact/(AE) supplier is using it:

    1. Select an Address Type from the drop-down.
    2. In the Select the address to be linked section, click the magnifying glass button to search for the address.The Find Contacts window opens.
    3. Find and open the contact.
    4. Click OK. The Select address to be linked window re-opens listing the selected contact and their addresses listed by Address Type.
    5. Select the address in the table that is to be shared/linked.
    6. Click Select. The Maintain Contact Addresses window re-opens.
    7. Click Save. The newly shared/linked address is added.
  7. If you want to link to a known address, but do not know which client/contact/(AE) supplier is using it:

    1. Select an Address Type from the drop-down.

    2. Enter some address text in the Search for address by text field (for example, Warne St).

    3. Click Search. All addresses that match the entered criteria will be listed.

    4. Select the address in the table that is to be shared/linked.
    5. Click Select. The Maintain Contact Addresses window re-opens.
    6. Click Save. The newly shared/linked address is added.
    7. Click Close when finished.
