Pay items are earnings or deductions included in an employee's pay on top of regular salary and wages (e.g., allowances, bonuses, super salary sacrifice, etc.). When you create a new pay item for an employee, it becomes available to link to all your employees.

The Pay items page lists every earning and deduction in your MYOB Essentials business. Find out how to:

To find the Pay items page, go to the Payroll menu and choose Pay items.

Pay items option on the Payroll menuYour pay items are separated into Earnings and Deductions, with the name and type listed for each. If you're in Australia, you'll also see the ATO reporting category assigned to each pay item.

Editing your pay items

You can edit any of your pay items from the Pay items page. Note that any changes made to a pay item will affect every employee it's linked to.

To edit a pay item, click the ellipses button (...) for that pay item and choose Edit.

The Edit pay item page appears. After editing the pay item's details, click Save.

The pay item is updated with the changes.

Adding and deleting pay items

You can add and delete pay items at the employee level (Payroll menu > Employees > select employee > Pay items - earnings and deductions tab). See Set up pay items (earnings and deductions) for more information.
