Before you can do your first pay run, you need to choose which bank account you’ll be using to pay your employees. Using this account when you pay employee wages will allow the payments to be automatically matched with the MYOB Essentials payroll transactions. You can also choose options for emailing payslips to your employees, and for what information to display on payslips.

To choose your bank account for paying wages  x

  1. If you haven’t chosen a wages bank account before, click Payroll setup for first pay run on the Pay centre page.
If you’ve previously selected a wages bank account and want to change it, go to the Settings menu and choose My business details, then click Payroll settings.
    The Payroll settings page appears.
  2. Choose which account you’ll be paying employee wages from. If you need to set up a new bank account, click the create a new account link. See Accounts List for more information about how to set up a new bank account.
  3. Click Save. The selected account is set as your default wages bank account, and you can now use it to pay your employees’ wages.

To choose payslip display options x

Select the Show personal leave entitlement on payslip option if you want to include the personal leave entitlement on employee payslips. If this option is not selected, only the annual leave and alternative holiday (New Zealand only) balances will appear on the payslip.

To set up payslip email options  x

When you email payslips to your employees, the payslip is sent as a PDF document attached to an email message. You can change the text in the email message, and choose to send the payslip to an additional email address.

Before you can email the payslip to your employee, you need to enter their email address on the Details tab of their Employee record.

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and choose Payroll settings. The Payroll settings page appears.
  2. If you want to change the text in the email that will be sent along with the payslips, type your new message in the Email body text field.
If you want, you can delete the variables [Employee name], [From date] and [To date], but you cannot change them.
  3. If you want to send a copy of the email to your email address, select the Bcc option for either your email address or an email address different to the one you used to register with MYOB Essentials.
Note that your employee won’t be able to see that you have emailed their payslip to these other addresses, so please keep their privacy in mind.
