Following is information to advise you how to migrate MYOB Accountants Office (AO) Classic Tax by backing up the databases, installing AO classic, applying any applicable updates and running workstation setups if applicable. Any updates required can be obtained from the Downloads section on my.myob.com.au. You can also order a replacement DVD (Order Release 13.0.0) if you have lost your Accountants Office Classic DVD from here.
Please read through the instructions below prior to undertaking the migration process. MYOB strongly suggests that the migration of MYOB AO Classic is performed by an individual with strong knowledge of these software products and is competent with the Microsoft Windows operating system. If you experience issues with MYOB software after following the instructions below, additional assistance of your migration may fall outside of the terms of your Sales and Service Agreement.
MYOB provides a Migration Service. If you have any doubts or concerns about completing this migration yourself, please contact your MYOB Client Manager and arrange for one of our technical services analysts to perform the migration for you. This service may require a booking, so please plan well in advance.
- Ensure you are logged in as an administrator user.
- Ensure User Account Control (UAC) is switched off. For more details refer to KB 30854: How do I disable User Account Control (UAC)?
- Ensure Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is set to the default setting. For more details refer to KB 34263: How do I establish Data Execution Prevention settings?
- Ensure any Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Malware, Firewall or any other such security software is switched off.
- Ensure Linked Connections are enabled on any Server 2012 and/or Windows 8 machines. For more details refer to KB 35152: How do I enable Linked Connections in Windows?
- Ensure you have a copy of the AO Classic Data folder from the old machine and that this has been copied to the new machine.
Please confer with your IT vendor if you have any issues with the above.
You will also need to confirm your document path and template path and check that these are copied across. By default these are located inside the Documents folder of the Data folder and in this case, nothing additional needs to be done. In order to find the path, within Accountants Office Classic, go to Tools > Options and click the Defaults tab to see the Document Path and Template Path. If you would like to change this path, please see KB 30150: How do I change the document path for all clients?. Note that you will need to do so before migrating the data over.
- Ensure the Data folder is copied into C:\MYOBAO on the new machine. If this directory does not exist, you must create it first. The folder is copied.
- Download and install version 17.0.3 full installer from my.myob.com.au, Product Downloads page, Australia.
- Install all the subsequent updates after that.
- Open Accountants Office and ensure all data and functionality has been restored.
- Ensure the MYOBAO folder is copied into C:\AONET on the new server. If this directory does not exist, you must create and share it will full permissions for Users first. Please speak to your I.T provider for more information. The folder is copied.
Map a network drive pointing to the AONET folder on the new server and ensure you note the new data path for example X:\MYOBAO. The drive is mapped.
Accountants Office does not support the use of UNC paths for example \\server\....Navigate to the MYOBAO folder and run setup.exe. The installation file runs.
If this file does not exist or there are issues running it, you will need to install the aforementioned updates as per the Standalone section of this article.- Open Accountants Office and ensure all data and functionality has been restored.
- Map the drive the same as was done on the server.
- Navigate to the MYOBAO folder and run setup.exe. The installation file runs.
- Follow the prompts of the wizard to install Accountants Office, ensuring the Data is installed to X:\MYOBAO\Data where X:\ the the mapped drive the MYOBAO folder is located. The installation is complete.
- Open Accountants Office and ensure all data and functionality has been restored.
- Install the relevant VPN client on any applicable workstations. The VPN is installed. For more details refer to: KB 33666 : Installing and Uninstalling Cisco VPN client for AO Tax-
- Ensure any external documents or templates have been copied across into the corresponding folders shown in Tools > Options > Defaults tab.
You have successfully migrated Accountants Office Classic.
