As you may know, Inland Revenue has been on a multi-year program to transform the way  that they interact with taxpayers. The latest and most far reaching phase of this programs involves a change to the way that tax returns are electronically filed, with the introduction of the new Gateway Services Platform from October 2019.

As such, the current e-filing system will only be available until 16 April 2021. From 17 April 2021, you won't be able to file tax returns using e-file.

What this means for your practice

Our approach has been to build a platform for the future and move all our customers online.

This means that you'll no longer be able to file tax returns from MYOB Accountants Enterprise (AE) Tax or Accountants Office (AO) Tax after 16 April 2021. As such, there will be no further updates to tax returns in AE/AO from April 2021, onwards.

Over-the-phone support for AE/AO Tax will continue to be available until 31 April 2021. However, from 1 May 2021 for the remainder of 2021, support for AE/AO Tax will be available via web-case only.

Filing tax returns for 2021, onwards

To continue to prepare and file tax forms for 2020-2021 and onwards, you'll need to upgrade your practice to MYOB Practice Tax before 16 April 2021. For information on how to upgrade, see Upgrading tax from AE or AO - NZ or contact your Account Manager.

MYOB Practice GST functionality

The ability to file GST returns in MYOB Practice Tax will not be available at launch. From 17 April 2021, you'll need to file GST returns directly through your client's MYOB Essentials or AccountRight file, or through myIR.

You can read more about preparing GST returns in MYOB Practice Tax GST Functionality.

We understand that AE/AO Tax and Tax Manager is a critical workflow within any practice, and we'll work with you to ensure a smooth transition from AE/AO Tax to MYOB Practice Tax online.
