An attribute provides important specific information that relates to an employee or a group of employees. This can be next of kin information, business-issued phones or uniforms, for example.

To add an attribute to an employee record

This example shows how to use the Attributes form to add next of kin details.

  1. From the main menu, go to Configuration and select Common Settings > Attributes (screen ID: CS20500).
  2. In the Attributes form, click on the plus icon () and enter an Attribute ID and a Description.

  3. Select a Control Type, which indicates the information that can be entered into the employee details:

    • Text: The user can type text only.
    • Combo: This is a text box with a list box attached, so users can type or select the value. For this type, you can enter a list of possible values.
    • Multi Select Combo: Will include a check box against each attribute value so users can select multiple options. For this type, you can enter a list of possible values.
    • Checkbox: This is a check box that can be selected or cleared to turn the option on or off.
    • Datetime: This is used to enter a date only.
  4. Go to People > Configuration > Organisation > Employee Classes.

  5. Select a Class ID that you want to add the attributes to.

  6. In the Attributes tab, click the plus icon () to enter the attributes for this group of employees.

  7. Click the save icon ().
  8. Click Apply Payroll Settings to add this detail to employee details. The detail is included in the details of all employees belonging to this employee class.
  9. From the Employees form, select an employee that's part of the Admin Employee class, then select Attributes.
    In the example below, the next of kin attributes are listed and you can add specific information in the Value column.

  10. Click the save icon ().
