MYOB AE Tax Manager install guide—5.4.38 (New Zealand)

Read through this install guide before you start installing the update. It will help you plan the tasks required.

Prerequisites
Pre-installation checks
  • Make sure you have MYOB Accountants Enterprise version 5.4.37 installed on your network or standalone computer.
  • Make sure everyone's logged out of all MYOB programs.
  • Check that your computer meets the system requirements.
  • Disable your virus checker.
Back up your data
  • Back up your AE SQL database and your tax database.
  • Take a copy of your customised Tax notice templates.

To take a copy of your customised tax notice templates:

Copy from...Template location
Workstation\\<servername>Tax Manager Templates
ServerC:\Program Files(x86)\MYOB\Central\Tax Manager Templates.
To install Tax Manager
  1. Install MYOB AE:
    1. Log in to my.MYOB and go to My Products > Download.
    2. Select MYOB AE Tax Manager or MYOB Tax Manager from the drop-down.
    3. Click on the install file to download it:
      • MYOB AE Tax Manager 2021.1 (5.4.38.101) - Update or
      • MYOB AE Tax Manager (Hybrid Plus) 2020.2 (5.4.38.101) - Update.
    4. Double-click the downloaded file to start the install.
    5. Click Release Notes to find out what's changed in this release.

    6. For detailed instructions, refer to the MYOB AE install guide—5.4.36 (Australia & New Zealand).
  2. Install MYOB Tax Manager:
    1. Log in to my.MYOB and go to My Products > Download.
    2. Select MYOB AE Tax Manager or MYOB Tax Manager from the drop-down.
    3. Click on the install file to download it:
      • MYOB AE Tax Manager 2021.1 (5.4.38.101) - Update or
      • MYOB AE Tax Manager (Hybrid Plus) 2021.1 (5.4.38.101) - Update.
    4. Double-click the downloaded file and click unzip. The installation welcome window opens.

      If you don't see the installation welcome window, browse to the location where you extracted the file and:

      • if you are non-hybrid site, run AETMServerSetup_AETax.exe
      • if you are hybrid site, run AETmServerSetup_HybridPlus_AOClassicTax.exe.
    5. Click Click here to upgrade Tax Manager.

    6. Click Release Notes to find out what's changed in this release.

    7. Install AE Tax Manager to the same location as MYOB AE, normally your SQL Server. 

    8. After you have installed both MYOB AE and Tax Manager, run the workstation setups on the SQL server and workstation:

      For MYOB AEThe MYOB AE workstation setup should run automatically.
      If it doesn't, run the workstation setup manually:
      1. on the server, run C:\Program Files (x86)\MYOB\CENTRAL\Client\setup.exe.
      2. on a workstation, run \\<servername>\CentralClient\setup.exe.

      For MYOB AE Tax ManagerRun on the server and all workstations:
      1. on the server, run C:\Program Files (x86)\MYOB\CENTRAL\Client\TMAEWorkstationSetup.exe.
      2. on a workstation, run \\<servername>\CentralClient\TMAEWorkstationSetup.exe.


Post-installation

To check your version number:

  1. Start MYOB Tax Manager.
  2. Select Help > About.
  3. Check that MYOB Tax Manager version is 5.4.38.101.
