Import Matrix Items and Template Items.

This page is for MYOB Advanced consultants

Check all changes in a test environment before taking them live. Make sure all related features still work as expected and that your data is unaffected.

During implementation, you might have a requirement to import existing Matrix Items from a legacy system, and these matrix items will need to be linked to an existing Template Item. This knowledge base article will show you how to do that.

Build 2021.117.400.6951 [21.117.0037] onward.

  1. Publish the attached customization. MatrixImportScenario.zip

  2. In the customisation, you’ll find the sample import scenario to import matrix items, which you will need to modify accordingly or use it as a reference to import matrix items.

  3. Also, when the customisation is imported, go to the item class of your matrix item, you’ll notice a new field called “Allow Edit Template ID” – you need to to tick this field.

  4. When the "Allow Edit Template ID" field on the Item Class is ticked, the Template ID field on the stock items screen is editable, and therefore you’ll be able to link the Matrix Item to the template item:

Before you do the import, you will need to set up the relevant configurations to support the matrix items/template items functionality (such as attributes, templates, etc. – once all of that is done and you know what needs to go into the system you can link the matrix into the template using the steps as described above).
