Contacts are how you keep track of your customers, suppliers and personal contacts in MYOB Essentials. By adding someone as a contact, you’ll be able to store and view information about them, and track and analyse their transaction history.

You need to create a contact if you want to:

  • create invoices and keep track of how much customers owe you
  • create bills and keep track of how much you owe suppliers
  • record a contact’s name, address or other details.

The contacts list

You can see a list of your contacts by choosing View contacts from the Contacts menu.

On this page, you can see basic information about each contact, including their name and telephone numbers. If you’ve entered an email address, you can view it by hovering over the icon ( ), or click to send an email to the contact using your default email program.

The list also shows which type of contact they are (customer, supplier, both or other), and whether they are active or inactive. For more information about contact types, see Contact types.

Creating and viewing contacts

To view more information about an individual contact, click their name in the contacts list. If you want to create a new contact, click Create contact.
