In MYOB Advanced Payroll, on the Employee's Current Pay screen, you can add the child support code to the Variation code field. The field only becomes available if changes are made to a child support pay item with the Reducing Balance Calculation checkbox selected, or if you replace that pay item with a new one.

Here's how to select the right code:

  • If more than one variation code applies, the priority of the variation codes is listed below, with the lowest number being the highest priority.

    CodePriority
    C – ceased employment1
    A – advanced payment2
    P – protected earnings3
    S – short term absence4
    D – deducted previously5
    O – other6
  • If no variation applies, or if child support is not required to be deducted for the employee, then leave the field blank.

  • If you deduct the exact child support amount requested for the employee on the Child Support Deduction (YL0010) notice, no code is required.

If you were deducting child support for an employee and they no longer work for your organisation, use the C – ceased employment code. As these codes are used to track and allocate payments, it's best to provide them.
