Practice MYOB settings

To enable MYOB AE/AO to perform tasks that require administrator access to MYOB’s online services, you will need to specify MYOB administrator details for your practice on the Practice my.MYOB Settings window.

The Login field on the Practice my.MYOB Settings window requires a valid MYOB Login that has both administrator and partner administrator access rights to the client code specified in the MYOB client code field.

If you do not have a login with Administrator rights, you will need to use my.myob.com to create a new login or edit an existing one. See Identifying if you have administrator MYOB access for more information.

If you are working with online data you need to configure your MYOB settings to access your data. This will require your MYOB client code.

Once your Practice MYOB settings are configured you will be able to:

  • create other MYOB Logins

  • access AE/AO Live

  • manage AccountRight 2013 or later file access rights.

To allow/not allow editing of Practice MYOB Login details
  1. Select MaintenanceSecurity > Task Permissions on the main menu or Maintenance > Maintenance Map (AO) > Security > Task Permissions. The Maintenance Task Permissions page opens.

  2. Select Central from the Product drop-down.

  3. Select the Group (security group) from the drop-down that you want to set up the task permissions for. The Group Descriptions assigned to the Group are listed in the panel.

  4. Click

beside the Maintenance Group Description to list the available task permissions. The list expands and displays a checkbox in the Allow column.

  5. To control access to the Practice my.MYOB Settings window, select the checkbox in the Allow column for:
    #Maintenance#Edit Practice my.MYOB Settings
To restrict access to this window, deselect the checkbox in the Allow column. By default, this task permission is granted to members of the Super User security group.

  6. Click OK to save the changes and close the Maintenance Task Permissions page.

To set up your MYOB settings
  1. Have the details of your MYOB client code handy.

  2. Select Maintenance > Maintenance Map (AO) > Online > Practice my.MYOB settings. The Practice my.MYOB Settings page opens.

  3. Enter the MYOB Administrator Login details.
You must enter an MYOB Login that has administrator access to the practice’s my.MYOB account.
This is normally an email address which is limited to a maximum of 100 alphanumeric characters.

Your clients should be instructed to send all AccountRight Live invitations to this email address.
Your clients will need to invite the MYOB Login that you have specified here, so that their AccountRight Live file(s) can be shared as an Administrator. This is required to enable MYOB AE/AO to manage your employee’s access rights to the file.

  4. Enter the Password for the practice’s my.MYOB account. The password must contain only letters and numbers and no other characters.

  5. Enter your practice’s MYOB client code. The MYOB client code field only accepts numbers.

  6. Click OK. A message is displayed Informing you that the entered MYOB Login details have been validated.

  7. Click OK. The practice’s MYOB Login details are saved in the database in an encrypted format.

An employee can edit their MYOB details. See Creating or editing a my.MYOB login for an employee.
