  • Unable to import bank transactions

ANSWER ID:5504

The Import Transactions feature in Cashbook is designed to import transactions directly from your bank via the Internet, or using software provided by the bank and into your data file. Our support note Importing bank transactions has more information.

When trying to import bank transactions, you may receive the error message "0 transactions already exist. 0 transactions have been imported". There are a number of reasons as to why this may occur.

Check the following:

  1. Ensure that your bank account number is correctly entered into Cashbook and that you have downloaded the file using the correct bank account.
  2. Ensure that you have downloaded the transactions in the correct format. We recommend using QIF ddmmyy format.
  3. Ensure that you are selecting the correct format in the Import Transactions window, in other words click on the drop down box next to "Downloading Using" and make the correct selection, e.g. QIF - ddmmyy.
  4. Ensure that you have downloaded the correct period and that you are selecting this date range in the Import Transactions window. This doesn't need to be exact but needs to cover the period in which you are wanting to import.
  5. Ensure you are picking up the correct file to import.
  6. Ensure that you don't open the file once you have downloaded it. Opening it may change the format and will mean that you will be unable to import. If this is the case you will need to download the transactions again.
  7. Once you have imported your bank transactions you will then need to code and post them your bank account.
