When you install Cashbook, it installs in two different folders. If you are experiencing problems installing, it is possibly because a part of an old install is still present in one of these folders.
During a standard install the files are set as follows:
- The program files are installed in the following location on your C drive: C:\Program Files\MYOB\Cashbook
- The data files are installed in the following location on your C drive: C:\Users\Public\Data\MYOB\Cashbook
Upgrading to a new computer? See Moving Cashbook to a new computer.
To uninstall Cashbook
- Close Cashbook.
- Simultaneously press the Windows
and E keys on your keyboard (the Windows
key is between the Ctrl and Alt keys). The File Explorer window appears.
- Browse to the data files on C:\Users\Public\Data\MYOB\Cashbook.
- Move the following folders/files and place them on your Desktop (right-click the file/folder and choose Cut then right-click on your Desktop and choose Paste):
- Clnt1 (Clnt2, etc.) (this/these are your main cashbook files)
- License.WTL (this file carries your registration details)
- Click the Windows Start button and choose Control Panel then choose Add or Remove Programs.
- Click MYOB Cashbook then click Uninstall/Change.
- When the above is completed, close out of the Control Panel and re-open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to the C: drive and see if either of the two folders remain. If they do, right-click on the folder and choose Delete:
C:\Program Files\MYOB\Cashbook
C:\Users\Public\Data\MYOB\Cashbook
To reinstall Cashbook
Once you have removed the Cashbook folders as described above, ensure that you are logged on as an administrator of your system, your anti-virus software and any firewalls are disabled and then follow the process below to reinstall your software.
- When you are installing, the Install Wizard should halt and ask where you want to install the Program Files. These should go to C:\Program Files\MYOB\Cashbook
- You will also be asked where to put the Data Files. These should default to: C:\Users\Public\Data\MYOB\Cashbook
Note: If this prompt does not come up, then Cashbook still has a copy installed in your computer. - Once your install has finished, open Windows Explorer and browse to C:\Users\Public\Data\MYOB\Cashbook
- Move the following folders/files from your Desktop and place them in the Cashbook folder (right-click the file/folder and choose Cut then right-click on the Cashbook folder and choose Paste): (a) Clnt1, Clnt2, etc. (b) License.WTL
- You will now be ready to open and use MYOB Cashbook.
