  1. If possible, back up your AccountRight company file (File > Backup). This ensures your company file information is safe. For detailed instructions on backing up, see the AccountRight help (Australia | New Zealand).
  2. If your computer only allows users with administrator privileges to install or uninstall programs, log
in

  • If a virus scanner is enabled, temporarily disable it. The installation of some components may fail if you have a virus scanner running. You can enable the virus scanner after AccountRight has installed.
  • Save any open documents and close all programs.

    1. Close all programs on your computer.
    2. Access the list of programs installed on your computer:

      In Windows 8 or later:
      If you're using...Do this...

      Right-click the Windows Start button and choose Apps and Features.

      Click the Windows Start button and choose Control Panel then choose Programs and Features (or Uninstall a program).
      In Windows XP:
    3. Click the Windows Start button and choose Control Panel then choose Add/Remove Programs.Click the MYOB AccountRight software to be uninstalled then click Uninstall. In some Windows versions this may appear as button might be called Change/Uninstall.
    4. If a confirmation message is displayed, click Yes.
    5. If the Setup window is displayed, select the Remove option.
    6. Click Next.
    7. Click Yes to the confirmation message.
    8. Click Finish once the uninstall process is complete.
    9. Restart your computer.

    titleRepairing To repair AccountRight

    The Repair option will reinstall all the software components you specified during the original install process, but you won't have the opportunity to add or remove specific components in the process. This process may be used, for example, if asked to do so by MYOB technical support.

    1. If
    you have your MYOB software CD:
    1. your computer only allows users with administrator privileges to install or uninstall programs, log into Windows as administrator.
    2. Close out of all programs on your computer. This includes disabling any anti-virus software.
    3. Place the MYOB software CD into the disc drive. If the installation window does not automatically display:
      1. Simultaneously press the Windows and E keys on your keyboard to display My Computer (or Computer).
      2. Double-click your CD-ROM drive (usually the D: drive).
      3. Locate the file named autorun.exe and double-click it.
    4. Select Install. The system requirements window is displayed.
    5. Click Install Now. The InstallShield process will begin and will check the Windows Registry. Once it has searched and found that the software is already installed on your computer, the Setup window will be displayed.
    6. Select the Repair option.

    8. Click Finish once the reinstallation is complete.
    9. Restart your computer. 

    If you don't have your MYOB software CD:

    1. Close out of all programs on your computer. This includes disabling any anti-virus software.

      If the Change or Modify options aren't available, you'll need to uninstall then reinstall AccountRight.

    4. Select the Repair option.
    5. Click Next.
    6. Click Finish once the reinstallation repair is complete.
    7. Restart your computer.

    titleReinstalling To reinstall AccountRight

    The following instructions assume that you've uninstalled AccountRight as described above. You can then reinstall AccountRight using the installation CD or by downloading AccountRight from my.MYOB (providing you have an active support subscription).

    If you've downloaded AccountRight

    1. If your computer only allows users with administrator privileges to install or uninstall programs, log into Windows as administrator.
    2. Close all programs on your computer. If a virus scanner is enabled, disable it. Note that installation of some components may fail if you have a virus scanner running.
    3. Double-click the downloaded install file. The installation will begin.
    4. Follow the on screen prompts to complete the installation.
    5. When complete, restart your computer

    If you have an installation CD:

    1. If your computer only allows users with administrator privileges to install or uninstall programs, log into Windows as administrator.
    2. Close all programs on your computer. This includes disabling any anti-virus software. If a virus scanner is enabled, disable it. Note that installation of some components may fail if you have a virus scanner running.
    3. Place the MYOB software CD into the disc drive. If the installation window does not automatically display:
      1. Simultaneously press the Windows and E keys on your keyboard to display My Computer (or Computer).
