Time spent each day on client jobs and tasks is recorded on your timesheet. The information captured is used to charge the client WIP which flows into the billing process. It is important that you record your time on a regular basis so clients can be billed accordingly.

To open your timesheet
  1. Click AO-GS-Button-Timesheet.png to open your timesheet at today’s date.

  2. If you need to record time for a different day, adjust the date in the Time Period. Click AO-GS-PM-Timesheet-updown.png to move forward and back a day at a time, or click AO-GS-PM-Timesheet-calendar.png to select a date from a pop up calendar.

Chargeable and non-chargeable details are entered directly into your timesheet in the top row of the table.

Use [Tab] or [Enter] to move through the time entry fields.

For each time entry

  1. Start typing the name of your client in the top row Client/Job column and press [Enter] to open a drop-down list of matching client/jobs to choose from.
  2. Select the Client or Client/Job you want to record time against.

Clients display as either a client/job, for example, BLA100/Audit, or as a client without a job, for example, BLA100.

Time spent on non-chargeable work (for example, annual leave, sick leave, training) is recorded against the Non Chargeable client (client code: NONCHG).
In New Zealand, in MYOB AO Classic, chargeable work was charged to a Practice Client. This Practice Client was converted to a client in MYOB AO. We recommend you do not use the converted Practice Client in MYOB AO.

  3. Select a Job Year (job description), if applicable.

The Year pre-fills automatically if there is only one job for the client. If there is more than one year, the current year defaults, otherwise select the relevant year from the drop-down list.

  4. Select the appropriate Task code. Your standard charge rate will be displayed by default. You can select another charge rate if required.
  5. Enter the time units in the Units column. The total charge value will be calculated and displayed in the Total column. You cannot change this value.Enter a comment, if required.

The system defaults to 6 minute units as shown in the TimeUnit field at the top of the screen. You can select another time unit if you prefer to work in minutes or hours.

When you complete a time entry, MYOB AO will repeat the entry fields with the same details you just entered, with the exception of the time units. You can then select a different client/job and task code if required.

  6. Click [Enter] to complete the time entry.
  7. When you have completed entering your time entries, click Save in the Tasks bar to save your timesheet.
To save a timesheet

When you close your timesheet page, MYOB AO will ask if you want to save your timesheet. If you choose not to save, any data you have entered since the last save will be lost.

Timesheet entries will not be available in any WIP reports or billing until they have been saved.

Click Save in the Tasks bar to save your timesheet.
