  • Error: "Can't add word to user dictionary"

When you check spelling in AccountRight, you have the option of adding unrecognized words to the user dictionary. However, under certain circumstances the following error may be encountered:

To fix this error

  1. Login to your computer as a user with Administrator permissions.
  2. Simultaneously press the Windows Image and E keys on your keyboard (the Windows Image key is between the Ctrl and Alt keys). The Computer or Windows Explorer window appears.
  3. Navigate to Local Disk C:\Program Files\Common Files\Wintertree\Spelling (or Local Disk C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Wintertree\Spelling)
  4. Inside the Spelling folder, right-click the file correct.tlx and choose Properties.
  5. On the General tab, ensure the Read-only option is deselected as shown below.

  6. Click OK.

 

If the issue persists

  1. Login to your computer as a user with Administrator permissions.
  2. Simultaneously press the Windows Image and E keys on your keyboard (the Windows Image key is between the Ctrl and Alt keys). The Computer or Windows Explorer window appears.
  3. Navigate to Local Disk C:\Program Files\Common Files\Wintertree\Spelling (or Local Disk C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Wintertree\Spelling)
  4. Inside the Spelling folder, right-click the file correct.tlx and choose Properties.
  5. Click the Security tab.
  6. In Group or user names list, select Everyone.
  7. If Everyone doesn't exist, you can add it as follows:

    1. Click Add.

    2. Enter the name Everyone in the box.

    3. Click OK, then click OK again.

  8. With Everyone selected in the Group or user names area, select Allow for Full Control in the Permissions for Everyone area.

  9. Click OK.
