MYOB Cashbook will not backup successfully when there are asterisks in the Cashbook Name as shown in the example below.

If there are invalid characters such as * # @ % &, etc. in the Cashbook Name, Cashbook will produce the following error message:
Backup NOT completed

To fix this:

  1. Within Cashbook, go to the Setup menu and choose Preferences.
  2. Remove the asterisks (symbols) from the Name field as shown in the example below.

  3. Click OK. You will now be able to successfully backup MYOB Cashbook.
