If you have moved your Payroll software to a new computer, you will need to complete this simple process of restoring your backed up Payroll company file.
Haven't changed computers? If you haven't changed computers and you simply need assistance to restore a previous backup, see Restoring your backup below.
Before you can restore your backed up company file, you need to create a "dummy" company file into which you can restore your backup. To do this:
- Open Payroll and choose Create a new Payroll at the Welcome screen.
- Enter any name you like in the Company Name field, for example "abc", then click OK.
- Click OK again through the Payroll Options screen.
- The Activate your Payroll data file window will be displayed. Click Cancel then OK.
You have now successfully created a "dummy" company file into which you can restore your most current payroll backup as described below.
MYOB Payroll now creates a unique file name when backing up so you can save a backup of each pay you process and then easily identify the correct pay if you need to restore.
The Payroll backup file name includes the name of the payroll and a number which represents the date and time the backup was created.
Because each payroll backup has a different name, multiple backups can be now be saved in the same location.
- Go to the File menu and choose Restore.
- Browse to locate the required payroll backup using the ellipsis button as shown below.
- Highlight the required backup then click OK and then OK again through the Restore Payroll Data window.
- Click OK to the following warning window.
- A message will appear advising "Restore completed". Click OK.
You are now ready to continue using your payroll and your data will be as it was when you made the backup.
