The Data Execution Prevention options allow you to apply security settings as required. You have 2 options:

  • Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only; or
  • Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

Select the first option Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.

Note: This is switched on by default for Windows Server 2008 but not for Windows 7.

Important:  Apply this setting prior to installing MYOB applications.  This allows access by the installation process to the relevant areas of the workstation and is essential for the successful completion of MYOB installations.

How to apply Data Execution Protection (DEP) settings

  1. Follow the menu path:
Start > Control Panel > System.
    The System window appears.
  2. Click the Change Settings link.
    The System Properties window opens.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
    The Advanced options appear.

  4. Click Settings under the Performance heading.
    The Performance Options window appears.

  5. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
    The settings are displayed.

  6. Select the Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only option and click OK.
    The setting is applied.

  7. Restart the workstation.
