STP reporting error: Action required There is an issue with the way MYOB PayGlobal is reporting the Lump Sum Payment E STP category. In some situations this can result in incorrect STP reporting.
All Australian PayGlobal customers need to:
- Check whether any employees are affected by the error
- Correct these errors before finalising STP
We will be in touch by email to help you with this. For more information, see STP not reporting Lump Sum E amount.
Australia - Single Touch Payroll
Single Touch Payroll (STP) is an Australian government initiative to streamline business reporting obligations by reducing reporting burdens to various government agencies.
STP is a mandatory reporting obligation whereby employers send employee payroll data to the ATO every pay day and/or when making corrections to YTD data.
STP started on 1 July 2018 for employers with 20 or more employees. Which then extended to employers with 19 or less employees on 1 July 2019. Some concessions still apply but most ended on 1 July 2021. It is expected that ALL PayGlobal customers are now required use STP.
In the 2019-20 Budget it was announced that the ATO would expand the data collected through STP. This expansion is known as STP Phase 2.
In STP Phase 2, only 'what' you report changes. The 'how' you report data to the ATO remains the same.
The mandatory start date for STP Phase 2 was supposed to be 1 January 2022. However MYOB received a deferral date of 1 September 2022 for all its products. This means that unless your organisation has obtained an independent deferral from the ATO; your organisation needs to to submit its first STP Phase 2 compliant submission on/before 1 September 2022. You must be on a minimum of v4.62 to access the STP Phase 2 services - also known as STP 2020 or STPv4.
This manual covers:
- How STP works
- How to set-up your environment to start using STP
- How to make submissions
