MYOB AO Tax Manager does not use reports in the way that MYOB AO Classic used them. The information presented in the MYOB AO Classic reports, can be displayed on the screen in a Tax Manager.
Tax Manager contains the following pages that display a tabular list of information that you can customise to show the content that you need:
Find Tax Clients
Tax Notices
Filing Statistics
Missed Payments
IRD Data.
You can select a different year, search, sort, filter and grouping functions to organise the information. You can also add or remove columns or rearrange the columns to display the information exactly as you want it. Once you have found the information, you can easily drill down further by clicking on the Client Code, Return Name or IRD Number links to see more detailed information. If you require, you can print the information as displayed or export it to Excel.
Click on the Tax Year year to open a drop-down list of available tax years.
Select the appropriate year from the list. The list of tax clients refreshes to show tax clients for the selected year.
- Enter the text you are searching for in the Search for field. You can search by Client Code, Return Name or IRD Number. When entering text in this field:
A partial Client Code, Return Name or IRD Number may be entered.
The search text is not case sensitive.
The IRD Number must be entered without dashes or spaces.
As you start to type in the Search for field, a list of suggested tax clients (based on Return Names) is displayed. You can select from this list by clicking on the entry in the list.
- Select your search options:
Click the Search any part of name and code checkbox to match the entered string to any part of the Client Code or Return Name. For example: ‘mit’ in Smith. If this option is not selected, search results will show only those names with the search criteria at the beginning of their names.
Click the Include closed clients checkbox to include closed tax clients in your search results.
- Click Search. The tax clients that match your search criteria are listed.
Clear the text from the Search for field.
Click Search. All tax clients for the selected tax year are listed.
Click a column heading to sort the list by that column in ascending order.
Click the column heading again to sort the list by that column in descending order.
[Ctrl + click] on the column heading to remove the sort from that column.
The sort order you select will be remembered and applied when you open the Find Tax Clients page in the future.
- Click on a column in the Filter bar. The Filter bar is identified by the
in the left most column.
INSERTIMAGE - Use the drop-down to select from the list of values in the column.
The list will now only show entries that match the value selected in the filter.
You can use wildcards when entering filters:
- To find all entries in the column beginning with D, enter d in the filter.
To find all entries in the column containing the characters FAMILY, enter *family* in the filter.
To find all entries ending in D, enter *d in the filter.
Click
to remove the filter.
- Drag the column heading to the Group bar.

This will group the items in the list by the heading(s) you have selected. For example, you can view the clients by partner or contact type rather than by code. When you drag the required group heading to the Group bar, the list will be updated to reflect your selection. You can add another group heading either before or after those already selected to further group the items. To view all items, remove all the grouping options from the Group bar.
- Select Field Chooser from the right-click menu on the list. A list of field chooser options are displayed.
- Click on field listed in the Field Chooser menu and drag it to the required location on the column heading row.
Drag the column heading that is no longer required out of the table.
When your cursor changes to a red crossed circle, release your mouse button. The column will be removed.
Drag and drop selected column headings where required within the column heading row on the display table.
The column width of the fields can be resized by clicking and dragging the column divider in the heading row.
Click
in the Tasks bar.
A Print - Find Results window opens where you can preview and print the search results.
