Header bar
Australia only
The Header bar is located at the top right of the window and lists the most frequently used tax options and tasks.
The following table describes the options that are available on the Header bar. Buttons may be enabled or disabled depending on the item selected in the return.
Button
Description
Goto
Use the Goto field to navigate easily around the return. Enter the item number into the Goto field and press [Enter] to navigate to that item.
Exit Return
Click Exit Return to close the tax return and return to the MYOB AO window. All open schedules and worksheets will also be saved and closed.
Back
Click Back to close the current window. Any changes made to the current form are saved before closing.
Next Active Item
Click Next ActiveItem to move to the next active item in the tax return.
Previous Active Item
Click Previous ActiveItem to move to the previous active item in the tax return.
Preview
Click Preview to view a print preview of the current return.
Summary
Click Summary to view the [Shift + F2] Summary of the entered items. For the return currently being prepared the values entered against the item are displayed. From 2014 onwards, if a return has been prepared in MYOB AO for the immediate prior year, you will see the comparative between the current year value and the last year value.
Estimate
Click Estimate to prepare the detailed [F4] Estimate of the tax payable or refundable for a Company, Individual or Fund returns. For Trust returns the Estimate will be prepared when the Front Cover settings are established and after [F8] Distribution has been performed.
Validate
Click Validate to run the [F3] Validation. The summary is interactive and lists any errors or warnings which have been found by the ELS validity testing.
Edit Completed Form
Forms which have been marked as complete are read-only and cannot be edited. Click Edit Completed Form to remove the read-only status and edit the completed return.
Insert
Click Insert to insert additional lines into a return, where lines may be inserted. For example, you can insert additional lines to Item 7 of the individual return.
Delete
Click Delete to delete any additional rows that have been added to a return. For example, you can delete any additional lines which have been inserted to Item 7 of the individual return.
Schedule
Click Schedule to add a schedule to the selected item. The Schedule button is only available if a schedule can be associated with the item.
Note
Click Note to add or view the notes for the selected item. The Note button is only available if a note can be added to the item.
Amend
After a tax return has been lodged, it will open Read-only. Click Amend Return to create an amendment to a lodged return.
This creates a copy that can be amended. Attach an Amendment Schedule (amd), process and lodge the form.
When amending a Form I prior to 2010 the Amendment Schedule has code ‘ame’.
When amending a return prior to 2010 for a form type other than individual, set the status of the return to ‘Not Lodged’, make the changes and the lodge the amendment by paper.
Properties
Click Properties to view and edit the properties for the return.
