A detailed breakdown of WIP is shown on the screen when you are creating a bill for a client. There are a number of ways to analyse WIP before billing.

To view Client WIP
  1. Click AO-GS-Button-Contacts-small.png to open the Find Clients page.

  2. Select the client you are interested in.

  3. Select WIP enquiry from the Tasks bar. The WIP Enquiry page opens and lists the WIP entries for the selected client.

This page allows you to group by job year (description).

To view an aged WIP
  1. Click AO-GS-Button-PracticeKPI.png. The Practice Manager page opens.

  2. Select Partner/Manager from the drop-down at Select the Practice Manager view.

  3. Double-click the Aged WIP graph. The Aged WIP page opens listing clients with aged WIP. The clients that are listed depends on whether you clicked:

    • the white area surrounding the Aged WIP graph to list all clients with aged WIP, or

    • an age band column in the graph to list clients that have aged WIP in that age band.

If you want to create a bill for a listed client:

  1. Select the row containing the relevant client.

  2. Click Billing Wizard in the Tasks bar. If you click the Client name, the Client page opens.

Preparing a prebilling report

Access online learning video on this topic

Prebilling reports are used to see a printed report of work done for a client up to a specified date. The report can be used as the basis for creating a bill for a client, or as an alternative to making allocations on the Billing screen.

Prebilling reports are generated for a client and will show all WIP for that client. Where a client is a parent client, all WIP recorded for their child clients will also be included. Four prebilling reports are available:

  • By type [task code]

In MYOB AO Classic in New Zealand, you would have known these as workcodes

  • By employee

  • By month

  • By group (billing groups)

This guide outlines the process for preparing a prebilling report from the Client page > Jobs tab.

To prepare a prebilling report for a client
  1. Open the relevant client. The Client page opens.

  2. Access the Jobs tab on the Client page.

  3. Select one of the four prebilling reports from the list on the Tasks bar according to how you want the client WIP categorised. The Report fields window opens.

  4. Enter the end date. The system will default to today’s date, you can change this if necessary.

  5. Click OK. The report runs and opens in a new window.

  6. Select Print to print report.
