  • Changing the date on a journal in BankLink Practice

ANSWER ID:36129

If a journal in BankLink Practice is dated in a period that has already been finalised or locked, these journals cannot be edited.

Otherwise, the journal date can be edited as follows:

To edit a journal date
  1. Open the required client file.
  2. Locate and double-click the journal entry you want to edit. The Cash Journal will open and show the date of that journal.
  3. Ensure you're in edit mode (the words All Editable Columns should be shown in the bottom-left corner of the screen). If Restricted to Account is shown, click to change it to All Editable Columns.
  4. Click the Date field of the journal and enter the new date.
    • If the date entered is not for the same month, the following message appears: This date is outside the current date range, the date range will be expanded to include it.  Click OK to the message and BankLink Practice will automatically update the date entered.
    • If the date entered is for a finalised period, the following error will appear:  Finalised entries exist in the month you have selected. You cannot add a journal to a finalised period. Click OK to the message and select a valid date in a non-finalised period.
  5. Press Enter to save the change.
