RetailManager

ANSWER ID:32800

If the Epson TM-T88V and TM-T20 printers are not listed in RetailManager's list of supported printers, a file is provided at the bottom of this support note which, when added to your RetailManager installation folder, allows these new Epson printers to be selected for use.

Before you begin

Ensure the printer has been installed according to the installation instructions that came with the printer. If the printer uses a USB interface, you must also install the Epson TM Virtual Port Driver which is included on the Epson driver CD in the following location (assuming your CD-ROM drive is the "D" drive):

D:\Windows\TM Virtual Port Driver\EN\TMVirtualPortDriver500aE.exe.

See <insert link to Configuring Epson USB docket printers> has detailed instructions on installing the Epson TM Virtual Port Driver.

1. Locate and rename the RetailManager file to be modified
  1. Close RetailManager.
  2. Simultaneously press the Windows and E keys on your keyboard (the Windows key is between the Ctrl and Alt keys). The Windows Explorer or File Explorer window appears.
  3. Navigate to and open your RetailManager installation folder, for example C:\RetailM.
  4. In the RetailM folder, right-click the file named Peripheral.txt and choose Rename.
  5. Rename the file and ensure the ".txt" file extension remains, for example Peripheral-old.txt
2. Download the replacement file
  1. Click the attachment at the bottom of this support note (Peripheral.txt).
  2. Save the file in your RetailManager installation folder, for example C:\RetailM.
3. Set up RetailManager to use the new printer
  1. Ensure your Epson printer is connected to the computer and is turned on.
  2. Open RetailManager.
  3. Go to the Setup menu and choose Hardware.
  4. Click the Docket Printer tab.
  5. Select the option Use Docket Printer.
  6. In the Model field, select Epson TM-T88V or Epson TM-T20 (as applicable). See our example below.
  7. Click Test. If a test page/docket does not print, refer to your printer documentation or see Configuring Epson USB docket printers.
  8. Click Apply.
  9. Click OK.
