This support note explains how to uninstall RetailManager and reinstall the same, or a newer, RetailManager version.
Back up your files
There are 4 tasks in this section:
Back up your custom bar code files
Create the RMSAFETY folder
- Right-click the Windows Start button and choose Explore (or Open Windows Explorer). The Windows Explorer window appears. The window has two sections-a left pane and a right pane.
- In the left pane of Windows Explorer, click the icon of the disk drive on which you previously installed MYOB RetailManager (usually the C: drive). A list of folders is displayed in the right pane. If you already have an RMSAFETY folder, go to 'Back up your shopfronts'.
- Right-click in the right pane of Windows Explorer, choose New, and then choose Folder. A new folder is created in the right pane.
- Type RMSAFETY as the name of the new folder and then press ENTER.
Back up your shopfronts
- Start your previous version of RetailManager.
- Go to the File menu and choose Configuration. A message appears asking if you want to close your current shopfront.
- Click Yes. The Shopfront Configuration window appears.
- Click the Maintenance tab.
- Select the shopfront to be backed up and click Backup. The Save As window appears.
- Click the Save in list. Locate and open the RMSAFETY folder.
- If you have:
- only one shopfront to back up, accept the file name and click Save (or OK).
- more than one shopfront to back up, type in a different file name and click Save (or OK). A message appears informing you that the backup was successful.
- Click OK.
- Repeat step 5 - 8 for each shopfront you have.
- Close the Shopfront Configuration window. The About MYOB RetailManager window appears.
- Click OK and close RetailManager.
Back up your custom settings
- In Windows Explorer, open the folder in which your current version of MYOB RetailManager is installed (usually C:\RetailM).
- Right-click the config.mdb file and choose Copy.
- In the left pane of Windows Explorer, right-click the RMSAFETY folder and choose Paste. You should now have two files in the RMSAFETY folder: config.mdb and the RetailManager backup zip file.
Back up your custom bar code files
If you have created customised bar codes, you will have a customlabel.def file in the folder in which MYOB RetailManager is installed (usually C:\RetailM). Copy this file from the RetailManager folder to your newly created RMSAFETY folder.
Uninstall your previous version of RetailManager
You must uninstall your current version of RetailManager before you install the new version. You can use one of the two methods described in this section. We recommend you use Method 1. To use this method, you should have the original installation CD that came with your previous version of MYOB RetailManager. If you cannot locate the CD, uninstall RetailManager using Method 2.
