When trying to send email from RetailManager you may get an Unspecified response under the Email Status field.
What is the solution?
First, you need to make sure your default email program is MAPI compliant. MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface) is a Windows program protocol that allows you to send an email from within a Windows application, such as RetailManager.
The MAPI compliant email programs which are supported by RetailManager are Microsoft Outlook (97 to 2010). Note that Outlook 2010 64-bit version is not currently compatible with MYOB accounting software.
Once you have confirmed that your email program is MAPI compliant, complete the steps below to resolve this issue. Test the email function after performing each step to see if the issue has been resolved.
-
Ensure there are no empty lines after the salutation in the default email message. Go to the Setup menu and choose Options. Click Email Defaults in the list then click the applicable transaction tab. Ensure there are no empty lines after the salutation and before the email message. Modify if required then click Apply then OK.
-
Ensure that the customer record is setup to be used with email. Go to the Information menu and choose Customers. Enter the customer number or search for the customer in question. When you have selected the appropriate customer check their email settings.
-
Ensure that the correct email program has been specified. Go to the Setup menu and choose Options. Click Email Programs in the list and choose the relevant program.
-
If all the settings in RM seem fine, reboot the machine and test again. You could also test using the Clearwater shopfront and also try on another PC if you have multiple machines.
-
If all the above steps have been completed done and it is still failing, ensure that your email client is working independently from RetailManager, in other words try sending a test email to the affected RetailManager customer's email address. You could also try sending a test email to your own email address to see if you can send and receive. If both these fail, check your internet connection and your email client settings.
