If the MYOB Data File Repair Team has worked on your RetailManager shopfront and returned the file to you, you'll need to restore the file to be able to use it in RetailManager.

When an MYOB file has been repaired, the Data File Repair Team will change the repaired file name to RepairedRMXXXXXXXX.zip.

This support note steps you through the process or restoring this file for use in RetailManager.

1. Rename your old shopfront file

Before restoring your repaired shopfront file, you should rename your old shopfront file. This ensures you don't mistake the old file for your current, repaired file. It's also a good idea to keep your old file on the computer until you've restored the repaired file, in case you need to review any transactions.

  1. Simultaneously press with Windows and E keys on your keyboard (the Windows key is between the Ctrl and Alt keys). The File Explorer or Windows Explorer window appears.
  2. Locate your old data file(s). These will normally be stored in your RetailManager program folder unless you have specified a different location, typically C:\RetailM\<Your Shop Name>. Note: You can set your Windows Explorer to either show or hide the file extension. The file extension is the 3 letters that appear after the dot in the file name.
  3. Click each file to be renamed, go to the File menu and choose Rename. In Windows Vista or Windows 7, go to the Organize menu and choose Rename.
  4. Enter the new name, overwriting the previous one, then press <Enter>. See our example below.
2. Restore your repaired file

If your file was returned via FTP you'll need to download it to your computer as described in Data file repairs. If the file was returned on an external storage device, such as a CD, DVD or USB stick, copy the repaired file from this device onto your computer.

Make sure the repaired file is available on the computer where RetailManager is used.

and save it to the folder on your computer where you normally store your company file. For example, C:\RetailM\<Yourshopfrontname>.

If you submitted your file on a CD or other removable media, you can copy and paste the file by using Windows Explorer as follows:

  1. Right-click your Windows Start button and choose Explore.
  2. Select the drive which contains the removable media. In the example below, it is a CD and the CD drive is F: for this particular computer.
  3. Right-click the file to be copied and choose Copy.
  4. Right-click the destination folder and choose Paste.

If the file has been returned on a CD you will need to ensure that it is not 'Read Only'.

  1. Right-click the data file and choose Properties.
  2. Deselect the Read Only option.
  3. Click Apply. You will now be able to open the data file in MYOB accounting software.
