Returns are created by clicking Create Return on the Tasks bar. This task is only available on the Client page > Tax Returns tab.

If the client has a return for the previous year in MYOB AO, the RSD option to roll data into the new return is available.

If relevant also see Creating prior year tax returns.

How to create a tax return
  1. Open and login to MYOB AO. See Logging into MYOB AO.
  2. Open the relevant client. The Client page opens.

If the client is new, you must create the client in MYOB AO before creating a tax return for them. See Creating a client.

  3. Access the Tax Returns tab on the Client page.

  4. Click Create Return under Tax Return on the Tasks bar. The Create Tax Return window opens.

  5. Select the year for the return on the Tax return year drop-down.

  6. Click Create. If the client has a return for the previous year, a message appears indicating that the data will be rolled forward. Access online learning video on this topic

  7. Click OK. The Roll-over - Retain Schedule Data (RSD) dialog appears.

  8. You now have two options:

    1. Click Yes to roll over details into the new tax return for the present year, or

    2. Click No to create an empty tax return.
The AO Import Utility window opens if information must be imported from MYOB AO Classic. This may take a few minutes. The tax return opens in a new window
