It is important to know that Tax data entered into a field is saved as soon as you move away from the field. When you close a window (worksheet, schedule or form) any change to the field that has focus WILL NOT BE CAPTURED. You must tab away from the last active field in order for any change to it to be saved.
The layout of the Tax return for data entry is as similar as possible to the forms issued by the ATO. The items and labels appear in the same order.
To navigate through the fields you can:
click in a field
use [Tab] and [Shift + Tab] to move from field to field
select the field from the ATO Return area of the Tasks bar.
Field Types
There are several types of fields identified by background shading:
Shading
Description
Yellow background
These fields are mandatory and must be completed if the return / form is to pass ELS validation.
White background
These are direct entry fields. Click in the field and type a value.
Greyed-out
These fields are completed by entering information elsewhere. The information could be:
entered in an associated schedule
calculated from other information entered throughout the return
copied from other areas of MYOB AO, for example the client details.
When entering data:
if a is shown at the right of a field, click and select a value from a list.
if the field has a label (for example, ) that changes colour when you place the cursor over it, a schedule or worksheet is available for data entry. Click the label to open the relevant schedule or worksheet.
In some cases, more than one label opens the same schedule or worksheet. The information you enter in the schedule / worksheet will be copied to the correct items when you save and close.
