Schedule a regular backup

You can schedule backups of your database and critical configuration files to be done at a regular periods that is convenient to your practice. It is recommended that you choose a time when there is minimal use of the system, for example, overnight or early morning. As a default, your backups are set to run everyday at 1pm. You can change this if you prefer, but be aware your computer must be on at the scheduled time or the backup will not be able to run.

You can change the details on a scheduled backup when necessary using the same procedure to schedule the backup in the first place.

To schedule a regular backup

  1. Select Maintenance > Backup > Schedule Backups.


  2. The Schedule Backups window opens.
  3. Enter the Backup location.


  4. This is where you want to store your backups.

    You must have write access to the Backup location. If you need to specify a different username and password to write to the back up location, click Edit user details to specify them.

  5. Select when you want the backup to occur.

  6. Specify the number of scheduled backup files to keep.


  7. Once you exceed this number the oldest one is deleted. 
  8. Click Schedule.


The back up process is scheduled and will run in the background.
